By doing the right throat exercise you can overcome many health problems which are closely associated with many of these pairs of muscles.
Throat Exercises For Different Health Conditions
This exercise uses gravity to offer resistance to throat muscles. You can lie down on your back on the table or bed as you allow your head to gently hang down the edge. You can use your neck muscles to lift your head till your chin touches or it is close to touching the chest. You can repeat this exercise at least 10 times in a day.
Lip Control Exercise
This exercise will help in reducing drooling and food sticking in the mouth which can be problems in dysphagia. Lip control can be improved by doing these exercises like lips puckering tightly or by kissing the air. You can hold a straw to the mouth and then blow it and then again suck air using it. You will be closing your mouth, then again puffing your cheeks or smiling. This lip control exercise will help in better swallowing of food. You do not need to this exercise in rotation as other exercises.
An effective exercise which strengthens throat muscles and help you stay and look younger. It also helps in getting rid of snoring. You need to apply some pressure to the bottom of your chin and then press against the fingers with throat muscles. You should not be moving your head in the process so that you use your throat muscles only to apply resistance. You should hold this contraction position for at least three minutes if this does not hurt.
The Supraglottic Swallow Exercise
This exercise helps by reducing vocal chord closure. You need to slowly and deeply breathe and then hold your breath. You should swallow as your breath is held and then cough and again swallow. Repeat this process as many times you wish. It effectively works out your throat muscles.
An effective cure which will help in getting rid of snoring problem, especially loud snoring which can make sleeping really difficult for your partner. You should do this exercise by opening and closing your mouth as much as possible – wider. You need to ensure that you are closing your mouth properly.
Do this in 8-10 motions and then you should pucker your lips tightly. Hold this position for at least 10 seconds which is quite effective. You should open your mouth wide as you can and perform a big exaggerated smile. You should repeat all the exercises in a series. Doing this exercise regularly helps in curing the snoring problem.
Throat And Chin Tightening
Start by gently lifting your upper lips. Do this firmly as you apply pressure with your muscles. This pressure will help in tightening chin muscles gradually. Stay in this position and then slowly contract your lower lip as you lower your chin, just as you would tuck it in your throat.
Ensure that you are not bending your neck while you try and tuck your chin. You should be able to accomplish this movement solely with the help of your throat muscles and not the muscles located at the back of your neck. Hold this position for many seconds. Repeat this at least 10 times for effective results.
Tongue Strength Exercise
One good exercise which helps in improving your tongue strength and keeps food where it should be when you have it inside your mouth. You can improve the strength of your tongue by a number of exercises like sticking your tongue out as much as you can without hurting yourself. Try and attempt to reach your nose with your tongue and stretch as much as you can. This will help in stretching your throat and tongue muscles as you stretch it towards the chin and as you press it inside your cheek.
Exercise For Laryngeal Elevation
A good way to tackle the problem of dysphagia since it is closely associated with control over swelling. It is highly beneficial to exercise different areas of your mouth and throat. To do this laryngeal elevation you should vocalize ‘E’ sound. Start on low end and then you can scale it up slowly for best results. As you reach the highest note, hold it for at least 5 seconds and then get back to your starting position. You can use your fingers and feel your larynx rising up. This is a highly effective exercise for throat muscles.
