Exercises To Get Rid Of Double Chin

Have you noticed double chin lately or do you have this for quite some time now and did everything possible to get rid of it? Well, you do not need a surgery nor do you need to starve hard to get rid of the double chin. You just need to add some targeted exercises in your workout regime. It is just that with time, skin tends to lose its elasticity and collagen. It starts sagging in specific areas and this can happen even in your 20’s also. Here are a few exercises worth trying, which will help to tone your skin muscles and get back your original toned look. However, remember to take care of your diet and exercise regularly.

Get Rid Of Your Double Chin:

1. The “O” Movement

Sit comfortably as you keep your back straight as you start the exercise. Your shoulders should be down and comfortable. Now, you need to tilt your head backwards as you look towards the ceiling. Close your lips and relax as you move ahead with the exercise. As you keep your lips closed, you need to open your mouth, so that you form an “o”shape. Hold on to this position for at least 20 seconds.

You will feeling a strong contraction on the sides of your neck, just under the jaw line. You can then relax your mouth. Slowly lower your chin and get back to the starting position. This is one repetition. You need to do at least 10 repetitions and two sets.

2. Neck Rolls

This is an excellent exercise to stretch and also tone all neck muscles, jaw muscles and facial muscles. You can do neck rolls anytime, whether you are sitting or standing as per your preference. This is the perfect exercise to reduce low back and neck pain, especially those who spend hours on the computer.

You just need to ensure that your spine is straight as you do the exercise. Start slowly, as you move your chine towards one shoulder. Let your head slowly drop and roll towards the center position. You can then again roll back your head the other way till the chin is on other shoulder. You need to do this double chin exercise at least 15 times per workout.

3. Jaw Release Exercise

This is the perfect exercise to tone and stretch all your facial muscles. You can start the jaw release exercise either sitting or standing, while keeping the spine erect. Inhale through the nose, deeply. Exhale slow as you hum with lips as they are tightly close together. As you inhale and exhale, you should move your jaws as though chewing.

When you are done with exhaling, you should open your mouth as wide as possible. You will then inhale and exhale using your open mouth. You should be able to produce an audible “ahhhh” like sound. You can rest your tongue tip gently against the back section of your lower teeth. This will help in relaxing the jaws. You can repeat both the steps at least 10 times.

4. Kiss The Ceiling Exercise

Stand straight as your arms hang at the sides as you begin the exercise. You will then tilt your head a bit back slightly, as if you are looking at the ceiling. Move as though you are trying to kiss the ceiling by slowly puckering your lips as you extend them away from face. Try as far as you can but do not hurt your neck in the process.

You will feel a tightening sensation from your chin and neck area which means you are doing it right. Stay in this position for at least 5 seconds and then relax your lips. Lower the chin and get back to where you started. This will complete one repetition. You need to do at least 15 repetition each.

5. Platysma Exercise

In case you are not aware, platysma is a large muscle which runs from the jawline to shoulder. When you exercise this muscle, you ensure firmness for your throat and chin. Stand or sit with your spine erect. Now, you should pull your lips back. This is against your touch so that you turn the corners of mouth downwards.

Open up your mouth slight. This will activate all jaw muscles. Keep the lips pressed against corners of your mouth and teeth. The neck tendons will stand out. You will wiggle your lower jaw upwards and downwards at least 10 times. You should do this exercise at least 10 times to tone platysma.Just try any of the above exercises, have a balanced diet and drink plenty of water. You will be able to get rid of double chin in a short time.
